While guiding the Nanterre Students through their first feature project writing, I can’t help but being stunned by the extent of options when telling a story.
That makes me feel really humble and eager for more knowledge and practice in screenwriting.
I’m also really impressed by the students ability to tell captivating stories.
After two years as a teacher (i’d rather say a travel guide), I’m convinced that theory is nothing without practice.
Practice which aims at telling stories and using all the appropriate screenwriting tools, of course, but also, researching, working in teams, giving and receiving useful notes, observing a deadline, keeping a watchful eye on one’s and others’ works.
And I really wish for the students I work with that they come out of my lessons with a good and stable self-esteem as would state Christophe André. I believe this is quite necessary to work as a professional screenwriter.
